Hyperpigmentation / Stretch Marks

When skin is surgically cut, it will naturally thicken in that area in the bodies attempt to protect itself from falling apart. When a surgical scar is treated early, the tensile strength of the collagen will be increased in the weakened cut so that it will tend to thicken or stretch less. Even if the scar does not stretch or thicken it can be left white. This also can be avoided by early treatment.

Old or white scars can also be reversed, although they may take longer and require more repeat laser treatments because it is a two-stage process. The body has to break down the old scar tissue before it can rebuild the normal structure.
